I needed to download a copy of the Silverlight.dmg file, but quickly found that if you hit the Silverlight site, and already have Silverlight installed you couldn’t get to the download. Fortunately they link you to an uninstall page on their site, so I just deleted the paths specified there. The Mac users of our application usually have trouble with installing Silverlight. For some Silverlight installs in the Mac with ease. However, most people have to install silverlight, and restart the machine a number of times. It's so unpredictable how Silverlight installs on the Macs.

  • When I did, it actually pulled Silverlight into my downloads folder. Then I double-clicked, it pulled up a notification asking if I'd like to View Webpage, Cancel, or Open. When I pressed open, a 'Warning' message came up that says: 'The following disk images couldn't be opened.' Image:Silverlight.dmg Reason: not recognized.
  • Silverlight offers a flexible programming model that supports AJAX, VB, C#, Python, and Ruby, and integrates with existing Web applications. It supports fast, cost-effective delivery of high-quality video to all major browsers running on Mac OS or Windows OS.
  • I just stumbled across this thread. Since this exchange occurred, Silverlight version 5 has become available. Here's a link to the Silverlight page where it can be downloaded.

Yes, I am having the same problem with Safari. I tried Firefox and I get this message:

Silverlight For Mac Os X

Firefox can't find the file at 6-E739131D6B7E/10411.00/runtime/Silverlight.dmg

I tried the trouble shooting at Netflix. Doesn't work.

Netflix says it's a Microsoft issue and take it up with them. I replied no way. I detest Microsoft - that's one reason I have a Mac. Also told them that others are having the issue and that if it wasn't resolved in a day, I am cancelling my account. If enough people say that, Netflix would put pressure on MS to fix it.

Wonder if Amazon streaming uses Silverlight.
